Turkey has joined the European Union’s "Safe2Eat" food safety campaign, aimed at raising awareness on food safety issues. The campaign, running in 23 countries, will focus on educating consumers about safe food practices and scientific knowledge.
İbrahim Yumaklı, Agriculture and Forestry Minister of Turkey, announced that the country is participating in the European Food Safety Authority's (EFSA) "Safe2Eat" campaign, which has been running since 2020. This year, Turkey has become part of the initiative, which aims to enhance consumer awareness of food safety issues across Europe.

Yumaklı emphasized that the campaign is designed to encourage the public to make informed decisions about food, based on scientific evidence. He noted, "We, as Turkey, will focus on specific themes to raise awareness among our citizens regarding food safety." The key themes Turkey will address include foodborne illnesses, safe food preparation methods, food additives, reading food labels, allergens, and reducing food waste.
The campaign will be supported through social media channels and the Ministry’s dedicated website. Collaboration with food sector stakeholders, including supermarkets and restaurants, will ensure that the message reaches a wider audience. As part of Turkey's involvement, there will also be efforts to promote better food labeling habits among consumers to help them make more informed choices.
