Kemin Biologics hosted the third session of its 2026 Respiratory Integrity Forum in Rotterdam, focusing on the global challenge of Newcastle Disease Virus Genotype VII. The event highlighted homologous vaccine strategies and collaborative disease control approaches for the commercial poultry sector.

Kemin Biologics, the vaccine business unit of Kemin Industries, convened global poultry health experts in Rotterdam to address escalating respiratory health challenges driven by emerging Newcastle Disease Virus (NDV) Genotype VII strains. Moderated by Poultry World, the forum brought together academic researchers and field technical specialists to evaluate vaccination decision-making and field transmission dynamics.

During the scientific exchange, Kemin Biologics presented its NDV homologous vaccine portfolio, engineered specifically to match circulating Genotype VII strains. The solution set combines live and inactivated formulations designed to deliver early respiratory and enteric protection while significantly reducing viral shedding to mitigate farm-to-farm transmission risks.

The session featured technical presentations from Professor Kannan Ganapathy of the University of Liverpool and Dr. Abdallah Makahleh, Global Technical Services Manager at Kemin Biologics, who emphasized the importance of aligning academic research with real-world field application to strengthen flock immunity.

As NDV Genotype VII continues to threaten commercial poultry production across key global regions, the shift toward strain-matched, homologous vaccine strategies is becoming critical for reducing field shedding and protecting enterprise-level flock integrity.
