dicleuniversityThe Faculty of Agriculture of the Dicle University, with the support of GAP Regional Directorate and Karacadağ Development Agency, established an organic feed factory with a production capacity of 300 tons per month on the university’s land. The cost of the establishment was around 50 thousand dollars. The university established the facility to meet the demand for the organic feed, generalize the organic animal husbandry activities and provide feed for entrepreneurs. Along with the feed production, the facility provides feed production training to farmers. Muzaffer Denli, professor and department head of Zootechnics at Dicle University Agriculture Department, said that the facility can produce two tons of feed per hour, adding that “We gave our organic feeds to the organic chickens that we have produced within the framework of this project. This facility was established to provide feed in order to generalize organic animal husbandry activities. We produced this feed in this facility. We provided training on organic production to farmers. Also, we provided hands-on training to farmers from the start to the end of the production. We can produce 300 tons of feed per month.” Stating that the facility currently produces poultry feed, Professor Denli said, “We have a chance to produce feed for cattle and ovine on demand. Our machinery was designed in a way to produce these feeds.”
