As field operations continue for the 2026 season in Russia, the world's leading wheat exporter, total grain production has surpassed the 120 million ton threshold. In an official statement issued by the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation, it was announced that wheat production accounts for 90 million tons of the overall harvest. While the volume harvested is more than sufficient to cover domestic consumption at full capacity, logistical constraints at Black Sea and Sea of Azov ports continue to slow down the pace at which this high yield is converted into exports.

Russia’s ongoing grain harvest surpassed 100.5 million tons in late August 2026, up 12.5% year-on-year, driven by strong yields across key growing regions. However, escalating security tensions in the Azov-Black Sea basin and Ukraine-related shipping disruptions are creating severe logistics bottlenecks, preventing high production volumes from translating smoothly into global market supply.
