The Heads of the World Bank Group, International Monetary Fund (IMF), United Nations World Food Program (WFP) and World Trade Organization (WTO) called for urgent coordinated action on food security. Leaders proposed emergency food supplies and financial support to be provided to vulnerable countries.

The institutions have a long history of sharing knowledge and harnessing science and innovation for agrifood systems transformation. The new agreement sets out eight areas for technical cooperation including hot topics such as agrifood economics, animal production, climate change, and food security.

Copa (European Farmers) and Cogeca (European Agri-Cooperatives) welcome the Joint Motion for Resolution adopted today by a large majority in the European Parliament on the need for an urgent EU action plan to ensure food security inside and outside the EU in light of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. This motion follows and aligns with the Versailles Declaration by the Council of Ministers and the Communication issued yesterday by the European Commission.
