According to TURKSTAT, Turkey experienced significant growth in barley, maize, and wheat production in 2023, with an 8.2%, 5.9%, and 11.4% increase, respectively. Conversely, the oilseed category witnessed a decline, marked by an 11.3% decrease in soybean production and a 13.8% reduction in sunflower production.
The Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat) has released the 2023 crop production statistics to the public. The data reveals noteworthy increases, while a considerable decline is observed in oilseeds. According to the report available on the institution's website, cereal production in 2023 surged by 9.1% compared to the previous year, reaching 42.2 million tons. Notably, wheat, leading the charts, experienced an 11.4% increase, reaching 22 million tons. Barley witnessed an 8.2% rise, totaling 9.2 million tons. Corn, another significant grain, recorded a 5.9% increase, reaching 9 million tons. Additionally, the figures indicate that 305 thousand tons of rye (+11.7%) and 410 thousand tons of oats (+12.3%) were produced in Turkey last year.

Conversely, oilseed production experienced a decline, with soybean and sunflower production decreasing by 11.3% and 13.8%, respectively. On a positive note, sugar beet production saw a substantial increase of 22.1%, reaching 23.5 million tons.
According to data compiled by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, overall plant production saw increases of 10.3% in cereals and other crops (excluding fodder crops), 0.6% in vegetables, and 2.3% in fruits, beverages, and spice crops.
