TMO ensures purchase of entire grain supplies

TMO’s General Manager, Ahmet Güldal, announced plans to increase the daily product purchase capacity to 220,000, ensuring that all grains will be bought. Güldal urged farmers who may be facing appointment availability challenges to remain patient and not sell their products below TMO’s price.

Turkish Grain Board’s (TMO) General Director Ahmet Güldal addressed concerns raised by producers regarding appointment availability from the Board. Güldal reassured that TMO is actively purchasing grain from producers seven days a week, with their purchase points remaining open until the last product is received. Acknowledging the intense harvest period and anticipating an abundant 2023 harvest, Güldal stated that approximately 21 million tons of wheat and 8.5 million tons of barley are expected.

Güldal emphasized that TMO’s prices are the highest in the market, leading to a preference among producers to sell their products to the Board. He further shared that thus far, appointments have been made for 4 million tons of products within the TMO system, and around 2 million tons have already been received, with ongoing purchases. Güldal assured that TMO has made necessary warehouse and personnel arrangements to accommodate all products, and no producer’s goods will be redirected to other entities.

Highlighting the daily nationwide purchase of 120-130 thousand tons of products, Güldal revealed plans to increase the daily purchase capacity to 220 thousand tons in July as Central Anatolia intensifies its harvest. He urged producers not to sell their products below the market prices set by TMO, as the Board’s prices serve as reference points. Güldal noted a slight price difference of 1-2 thousand liras and expressed confidence that TMO’s total product acquisitions this year would exceed 10 million tons, surpassing the 7 million tons acquired in the previous year.
