The European Former Foodstuff Processors Association (EFFPA) has unveiled its updated website, underscoring its commitment to reducing food waste and promoting circular feed as a pillar of sustainable livestock production. The refreshed platform also emphasizes the sector’s role in addressing environmental impacts and advancing the circular bioeconomy.
EFFPA's new website reflects its evolving vision for the former foodstuff processing sector, placing a spotlight on circular feed as a key driver of sustainability. By repurposing food production by-products that would otherwise go to waste, the sector not only supports a circular economy but also reduces the environmental footprint of animal feed.
Highlighting the growing importance of circular feed as a performance indicator in sustainable feed production, the revamped platform also stresses the sector’s commitment to feed safety and animal nutrition. EFFPA President Alexander Romme stated, “The launch of a new website is a good opportunity to again raise awareness of the value of the former foodstuff processing sector in driving the circular bioeconomy, food waste reduction, and reduced environmental impacts.”
Romme also called for the new European Commission to recognize the strategic importance of the sector’s contributions to sustainability goals and reduced import reliance, aligning with broader EU policy ambitions.
