Türkiye’s TMO launches 255,000-ton feed barley import tender to stabilize supply

Türkiye’s Grain Board (TMO) has opened a new feed barley import tender in early February 2026, aiming to support supply balance in the feed market. The move comes at a sensitive time for the feed industry following weaker domestic production.

TMO has initiated an international tender for the purchase of 255,000 tons of feed barley. Bids are due by 11 February 2026, with deliveries scheduled between 23 February and 23 March 2026. The tender is structured in parcel sizes ranging from 5,000 to 25,000 tons, allowing for flexibility in sourcing and logistics.

The tender is limited to imported barley only. In addition to new shipments, barley already stored in customs-bonded warehouses is also eligible for delivery. Approved discharge ports include İskenderun, Mersin, Adana, İzmir, Bandırma, Tekirdağ, Samsun, Trabzon and Giresun, reflecting a broad geographic spread across Türkiye.

For the feed industry, the tender is significant in terms of raw material availability and logistics planning. At a time when transport and storage costs remain under pressure, TMO’s move is widely seen as a market-stabilization measure rather than a price-setting intervention.

Following a decline in Türkiye’s barley harvest in the most recent season, feed barley imports have once again moved to the center of policy discussions, underlining the strategic role of TMO in managing supply risks for the livestock and feed sectors.
