IFIF and FAO enhance their partnership to advance sustainable livestock production and ensure feed safety, underscoring the pivotal role of the feed and livestock sector in global agri-food systems. The renewed alliance aims to address challenges like antimicrobial resistance, contributing to the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The International Feed Industry Federation (IFIF) and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) have strengthened their collaboration. This significant development occurred during the first high-level Global Forum for Animal Feed and Feed regulators in Rome, with the shared goal of ensuring safe, nutritious, and sustainable feed and food.

During their 22^nd annual meeting, Thanawat Tiensin, Director Animal Production and Health at FAO, and Ruud Tijssens, IFIF Chairman, emphasized the importance of public-private collaboration in supporting evidence-based practices for sustainable livestock transformation. Tiensin highlighted the role of the feed and livestock sector in agrifood systems, emphasizing efficiency for increased production with fewer resources. He called for collective efforts to achieve sustainable livestock transformation. Tijssens said, “IFIF looks forward to the 17^th International Feed Regulators Meeting (IFRM) in 2024, which is another great example of IFIF FAO collaboration positively impacting the feed and food chain.”

The updated FAO and IFIF Manual on Good Practices for the Feed Sector, advancements in addressing antimicrobial resistance, and plans for future collaboration were discussed.

Daniela Battaglia, Livestock Production Officer at the Animal Production and Health Division of the FAO, highlighted the partnership's commitment to feed safety and addressing antimicrobial resistance (AMR) for responsible and sustainable livestock and food sectors.
