dsm-firmenich has opened a dedicated pet nutrition premix facility in Itatiba, São Paulo, strengthening its growing global network of species-specific production sites. The investment reflects rising demand for specialized pet nutrition solutions and reinforces South America’s strategic importance in the global pet food market.

dsm-firmenich announced the opening of NextGen Itatiba, a fully dedicated pet nutrition premix facility developed in partnership with Globalfood in São Paulo state, Brazil. The site will focus on the production of vitamin and mineral premixes for cats and dogs and serve as the company’s main pet nutrition manufacturing and supply hub in South America.

The investment follows the recent launch of dedicated pet premix facilities in Austria and the United States, expanding dsm-firmenich’s connected global production network for pet food applications across Europe and the Americas.

Located around 100 kilometers from São Paulo city, the facility benefits from proximity to key logistics and distribution infrastructure. Globalfood, which has more than three decades of experience in food technology and ingredients, will operate the site as a dedicated manufacturing partner, while dsm-firmenich will oversee formulation, sourcing, quality control and product release processes.

According to the company, the facility was designed exclusively for pet nutrition production and does not manufacture products for other animal species onsite. The model is intended to ensure dedicated production capacity and food-grade operational standards for the pet food sector.

Industry demand for specialized pet nutrition continues to grow globally, particularly in emerging markets where premiumization, functional nutrition and pet health trends are accelerating investment in dedicated manufacturing infrastructure.
