All major livestock categories in the EU recorded further declines in 2024. Goat numbers dropped most significantly, continuing a steady downward trend since 2014.

Spain, France and Greece led EU aquaculture production last year, with mussels, trout and seabream dominating harvest volumes. Trout remained the most valuable species.

The EU reduced its greenhouse gas emissions by 7% in 2023, driven by significant declines in energy and manufacturing sectors. Notably, emissions from the transportation sector increased.

According to new Eurostat data, the statistical office of the EU, greenhouse gas emissions in the EU fell by 4.0% in the first quarter of 2024, despite a stable GDP. Major declines were recorded in electricity and gas supply, as well as household emissions.
