U.S. Grains Council’s Regional Director for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, Ramy Taieb, champions a cutting-edge aquaculture feeding trial in Aydin, Turkey, paving the way for transformative industry collaborations and advancements.

In a strategic move to boost Turkey’s aquaculture sector, Ramy Taieb led a mission overseeing an innovative feeding trial at Aydin Adnan Menderes University in late November. The trial, focusing on enhancing seabass and seabream nutrition through U.S. corn co-products, holds promise for improved industry practices.

Taieb, emphasizing the significance of research, states, “Quality research and testing is a vital part of increasing consumer awareness of what new products and techniques can bring to the agricultural supply chain. I expect the results of this study will show that U.S. corn co-products are highly valuable additives to aquaculture diets and create more opportunities for U.S. exports to Turkey.”

The conclusive results of this trial are slated to be unveiled at the prestigious Barcelona Aqua Conference scheduled for April 23-25, 2024. During his stay in Turkey, Taieb engaged in discussions with the dean of the university’s faculty of agriculture, exploring prospects for further cooperation in aquaculture research and training programs throughout Turkey and the surrounding region.

The U.S. Grains Council actively introduces Distillers Dried Grains with Solubles (DDGS) to the Turkish market, with noteworthy success – 673 metric tons of DDGS imported to Turkey from January to September, 75% from the U.S. Taieb’s engagements in Turkey extend to the Feed Grains, Fats, and Oils Conference in Istanbul, reinforcing the Council’s global influence.
