TURKSTAT reports growth in livestock and dairy production for September 2024

Milk, egg, and poultry meat production saw significant increases in September 2024, according to Turkey's official statistics. The rise in production highlights growth in both the dairy and poultry sectors.

Turkey's Statistical Institute (TURKSTAT) has released data showing a substantial increase in the production of milk, eggs, and poultry meat in September 2024. Commercial dairy farms collected 903,509 tons of cow's milk, marking a 14.9% increase compared to the same period last year. This follows a 9.8% rise in milk collection for the January-September period.


In addition to milk, production of dairy products also saw notable growth. Cow cheese production increased by 11.6%, ayran by 9.2%, yogurt by 0.9%, and butter by 13.9%. The quantity of drinking milk produced rose by 7.2% compared to September 2023.

The poultry sector also experienced growth. Chicken egg production rose by 4.1%, and the number of slaughtered chickens increased by 10%. Poultry meat production grew by 11.8%, with turkey meat production seeing a 16.7% rise. For the January-September period, egg production increased by 4.8%, while poultry meat production grew by 6.3%.
