Turkish and Iranian feed industrialists met at IDMA 2017 Exhibition which was held on 04-07 May in Istanbul. Representatives of the feed industries of both countries held a meeting on 05 May, where the opportunities for cooperation were discussed.
Members of the executive board of Turkish Association of Feed Industrialists (TÜRKİYEM-BİR) met with the members of the executive board of Iranian Association of Feed Industrialists (IRFIA) and Iranian government officials on at IDMA 2017 Exhibition on 05 May. During the meeting held at the IDMA Exhibition in Istanbul, representatives of the two countries discussed the current opportunities for cooperation to improve the feed industry.
During the meeting, Majid Movafegh Ghadirly, the chairman of the Iranian Association of Feed Industrialists, said Iran produced approximately 9 million tons of mixed feed, and that the industry currently operates at 40% of the capacity but the existing capacity is around 21 million tons. Ghadirly emphasized that their vegetable crop production is low due to regional and climate conditions, and therefore 80% of the feed industry relies on imports, and the level reached 90-95% in soy and corn. Ghadirly said Turkey has a better position than Iran in manufacturing quality feed, and that they believed Turkish colleagues could help them with their experience.
Ghadirly reminded that Turkey had an important effect in the development of Iran, and highlighted that the Iranian cities near the Turkish border are relatively better developed than the other cities.
DECISION TO HOLD A WORKSHOP BY THE END OF 2017
TÜRKİYEM-BİR delegation stressed that the Turkish feed industry had achieved and continued to achieve important developments, and that Turkey started exporting technologies in feed machines. The Turkish delegation also said the two countries could cooperate in information, technology and raw materials.
At the end of the meeting, it was decided to hold a workshop for several days in Iran by the end of 2017 in order to ensure more efficient exchange of technical and commercial knowledge and to discuss the opportunities for cooperation in detail.
