Turkey’s TMO raises 2026 grain procurement prices

02 June 20265 min reading

Turkish Grain Board (TMO) has announced its 2026 grain procurement prices, increasing wheat prices by more than 22% year-on-year. The decision is expected to influence raw material costs across the flour, pasta and feed industries, while providing higher returns for grain producers. TMO has also unveiled its planned domestic grain sales prices for the new season.

Türkiye's Grain Board (TMO) has set its 2026 procurement price for both bread wheat and durum wheat at TRY 16,500 per tonne, while barley will be purchased at TRY 12,750 per tonne.

The announcement comes as grain harvest progresses across parts of the country following weather conditions that delayed harvesting compared to last year. TMO had already begun accepting wheat and barley deliveries from registered farmers on 21 May to facilitate storage during the harvest period.

In addition to procurement prices, the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry will provide producer support payments under basic support, planned production support and certified seed support schemes. Based on national average yields, these payments correspond to approximately TRY 3,014 per tonne.

As a result, farmers are expected to receive:

  • Wheat (bread and durum): TRY 19,514/t including support payments
  • Barley: TRY 15,764/t including support payments

TMO said payments for delivered grain will be transferred to producers' accounts within 45 days of delivery.

PRICES RISE FROM 2025 LEVELS

Compared with last year's procurement prices, wheat prices increased by 22.2%, while barley rose by 15.9%.

FEED AND PROCESSING SECTORS WATCH OCTOBER SALES

For feed manufacturers, flour millers and pasta producers, the more significant announcement may be TMO's planned domestic sales prices, which will shape raw material costs during the marketing year.

TMO stated that domestic grain sales will begin on 1 October 2026.

Planned sales prices for Group 2 products are:

  • Durum wheat: TRY 18,500/t
  • Bread wheat: TRY 18,500/t
  • Barley: TRY 14,000/t

The difference between procurement and sales prices stands at TRY 2,000 per tonne for wheat and TRY 1,250 per tonne for barley, providing an early indication of the price levels likely to prevail in Türkiye's grain market during the 2026/27 season.

The new pricing framework will be closely monitored by feed producers, as barley remains a key feed grain and wheat continues to influence compound feed formulations and overall grain market dynamics.
