The Turkish Grain Board (TMO) has announced a tender for the import of 225,000 tons of feed barley to be delivered in August 2025. The tender, scheduled for July 31, will cover deliveries to several key ports across Türkiye.

In a move to secure the supply of feed barley, a raw material of critical importance to animal feed production, TMO has announced a tender for the import of 225,000 tons (±5%). The tender will take place on July 31, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. Turkish time, at the TMO Head Office’s additional facilities in Güvercinlik, Ankara. This information was shared with industry associations and import companies by TMO.

Deliveries are scheduled between August 8 and August 29, 2025. Distribution is planned to the following ports: İskenderun (75,000 tons), Mersin (25,000 tons), İzmir (50,000 tons), Bandırma (25,000 tons), Tekirdağ (25,000 tons), Samsun (15,000 tons), and Trabzon (10,000 tons).

ŞABAN BUTTANRI: IT’S THE RIGHT MOVE, MORE TENDERS WILL FOLLOW

While some TMO’s interventions—aimed at ensuring food security and price stability—are occasionally criticized by farmers, one of the institution’s key goals remains curbing food inflation. Commenting on the latest tender via his X account, Şaban Buttanrı, CEO of Agrolino A.Ş., stated: “TMO’s job is not easy; it must both support and protect farmers while also mitigating rising feed costs and inflationary pressures.” Noting that Thursday’s tender was an expected decision, Buttanrı added: “It probably won’t be the last. I see this as a timely and appropriate step.”
