Grain harvest in Russia exceeds 120 million tons, wheat reaches 90 million
As field operations continue for the 2026 season in Russia, the world's leading wheat exporter, total grain production has surpassed the 120 million ton threshold. In an official statement issued by the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation, it was announced that wheat production accounts for 90 million tons of the overall harvest. While the volume harvested is more than sufficient to cover domestic consumption at full capacity, logistical constraints at Black Sea and Sea of Azov ports continue to slow down the pace at which this high yield is converted into exports.

Senegal joins International Grains Council

IGC confirmed Senegal’s membership with effect from 1 May 2024. With this move, Senegal is poised to actively engage in discussions shaping international grain policies and fostering dialogue between importing and producing nations.

The Republic of Senegal has officially become a member of the London-based International Grains Council, designated as an importing member. The IGC welcomed Senegal's participation and anticipated its active involvement in council activities stating, “The International Grains Council (IGC) is pleased to confirm the Republic of Senegal’s membership of the International Grains Council with effect from 1 May 2024”.

The addition of Senegal expands the IGC's membership, promoting dialogue between importing and producing grain countries. The IGC reaffirms its commitment to promoting dialogue between importers and exporters through initiatives like the "Second dialogue between importers and exporters" during the 2024 IGC Grains Conference in London on 11-12th June 2024.

The IGC membership currently comprises the following members: Algeria, Argentina, Australia, Canada, Côte d’Ivoire, Cuba, European Union, India, Iran, Iraq, Japan, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Korea (Rep), Morocco, Norway, Oman, Pakistan, Russian Federation, Saudi Arabia, Senegal (Rep), Serbia (Rep), South Africa, Switzerland, Tunisia, Turkey, Ukraine, United Kingdom, United States, Vatican City.
