In a strategic move to solidify national food security, SALIC completed the acquisition of the remaining 50% stake in National Grain Company, securing full ownership before transferring it to SABIL. The restructuring connects Saudi Arabia's strategic silo infrastructure directly with international procurement channels to enhance long-term feed and grain supply continuity.
The Saudi Agricultural and Livestock Investment Company (SALIC, a Public Investment Fund (PIF) enterprise, has acquired the remaining 50% equity stake in the National Grain Company to assume full ownership, subsequently transferring its assets to the National Grain Supply Company (SABIL). The official announcement took place at the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture headquarters in Riyadh, witnessed by Abdulrahman bin Abdulmohsen Al-Fadley, Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture and Chairman of SALIC.
The integration combines SABIL’s core operational strengths, including the management of strategic wheat reserves, a nationwide network of storage silos, and inland grain handling infrastructure, with National Grain Company’s expertise in international sourcing, grain and feed input specialization, and domestic commercial operations. Under the new corporate structure, National Grain Company will maintain its status as an independent legal entity while operating as a wholly owned subsidiary of SABIL.
This restructuring directly advances SALIC’s overarching strategy of bridging its global agricultural investments with domestic distribution networks. Following SALIC’s July 2026 integration of Continental Farmers Group into Olam Agri to expand its international origination capabilities, the alignment with SABIL ensures that globally secured grain and feed volumes flow seamlessly into domestic logistics channels.
