Evonik unveils plant-based feed additive for dairy cows at SPACE 2025Evonik adds a new natural feed additive for ruminants to its portfolio, targeting milk yield and stress management in dairy cows. Developed with French company Heidi Botanicals, BoruCare® Capsin will be commercially available in Europe from Q4 2025

Evonik has launched BoruCare® Capsin, a plant-based product rich in capsaicinoids, polyphenols, and flavonoids, aimed at supporting dairy cows during stressful periods such as early lactation and heat stress. The product, developed in collaboration with French specialist Heidi Botanicals, is designed to improve nutrient efficiency and enhance milk production.

“BoruCare® Capsin expands and complements our solutions for ruminants,” said Dr. Marion Hax, head of the Specialty Nutrition product line at Evonik Animal Nutrition. “With capsaicinoids as the main active compound in addition to polyphenols and flavonoids, it has multiple positive effects on the nutritional status, nutrient efficiency, and milk yield of dairy cows, particularly in stressful phases.”

Produced through a proprietary process that avoids solvent extraction, BoruCare® Capsin is derived from whole chili peppers. Grinding, standardizing capsaicinoid content to at least 0.5%, and encapsulating the extract in a fatty matrix removes pungency while retaining all plant metabolites. “Our unique process makes BoruCare® Capsin a particularly environmentally friendly product,” added Dr. Claudia Parys, responsible for Evonik’s ruminant portfolio.
BoruCare® Capsin will debut at SPACE 2025, the international animal farming exhibition, from September 16–18 in Rennes, France, where Evonik will be at Hall 9, Booth B42.
