Doyen of Turkish feed sector passes away

Orhan Abalıoğlu(84), the founder of Turkey’s first private feed factory passed away. He was the founder and owner of Abalıoğlu Yem, Soya, ve Tekstil Sanayi Şirketi which has been listed in the top 100 Turkish industrial organizations.

Orhan Abalıoğlu, the owner of Abalıoğlu Yem, Soya, ve Tekstil Sanayi Şirketi, passed away due to multiple organ failure on March 3, 2019, at Pamukkale University Hospital where he has been under treatment for two months. He was married with four kids. His death caused great pain among relatives and his personnel. Founded the first private Turkish feed factory in Denizli, a western Turkey city, about a half century ago, Orhan Abalıoğlu founded feed factories also in Çanakkale, İzmir, Mersin, and Manisa later on. He was the founder and owner of Abalıoğlu Yem, Soya, ve Tekstil Sanayi Şirketi which has been listed in the top 100 industrial organizations by İstanbul Chamber of Industry (ISO). The doyen businessman was also known for his contributions to education. He financed buildings of Abalıoğlu Yem Sanayi School for Spastic Children, Orhan Abalıoğlu Industrial School, Cedide Abalıoğlu School for the Handicapped, and a religious vocational high school bearing the name of his wife, Cedide Abalıoğlu. The philanthropist also financed the buildings of high school for his children – Ergun, Filiz, Baha, and Ender – with about 12 million Turkish liras’ investment. Abalıoğlu Group that started feed production as the first private feed company in 1969 was also ranked the 53rd among the top 500 industrial organizations at the ISO 500 List.
