dsm-firmenich Animal Nutrition & Health has updated its Digital SalmoFan™ platform with a specialized algorithm dedicated to trout fillet color assessment. The software expansion brings standardized digital metrics to trout producers, processors, and feed manufacturers, building on its established footprint in global salmon farming.

dsm-firmenich Animal Nutrition & Health announced an update to its Digital SalmoFan™ software, introducing a new species-specific algorithm engineered to measure trout fillet color with precision. The portable device transitions the industry’s long-standing SalmoFan™ color metrics into a fully digital format, allowing operators across the supply chain to minimize light interference and achieve objective readings.

By incorporating trout alongside existing salmon parameters, the tool enables feed manufacturers, fish farmers, and processors to gather, store, and share standardized color data across quality assurance and research initiatives. Major aquaculture stakeholders, including Skretting Group, MOWI UK, and Nord University (formerly UniNord), have integrated the platform into their operational frameworks.
