The Asia Soy Excellence and Food Summit 2024, organized by the U.S. Soybean Export Council (USSEC), took place in Bangkok, Thailand, from March 20-22, 2024. With over 150 participants from 12 countries, the summit focused on the theme “Eating Tomorrow – Future of Food Redefined with Soy.” The event served as a vital platform for advancing soy industries across Asia, emphasizing collaboration and trust among stakeholders.

Key discussions centered around the growing demand for plant-based protein alternatives and the use of soy by-products like okara to combat food waste. Jim Sutter, CEO of USSEC, highlighted the importance of free trade and collaboration, stating, “It’s crucial that we advocate for free trade, especially amidst discussions of self-sufficiency and trade hurdles.”

The summit featured culinary demonstrations showcasing soy’s versatility in Southeast Asian cuisine and meetings between buyers and suppliers, fostering new business opportunities. Celebrating 30 years of collaboration in Thailand, Timothy Loh, Regional Director, Southeast Asia and Oceania, USSEC, remarked on the milestone’s significance in supporting Thailand’s sustainability goals and agricultural growth.
