Grinding with a hammer mill is considered the beginning of the mechanical feed production process. Crushed particles and determination of particle size are priorities. Then, a homogeneous mixture is obtained in the mixer by adding liquid-micro materials. This ensures high pellet quality. The particle size of animal feed has a great effect on the conversion of meat, milk, and eggs. Studies have shown that for poultry and cattle, it is appropriate to have a particle size between 0.5-2.0 mm in hammer mills.

Particle size below 0.5 mm causes sticking in the mouth, difficulty in chewing, and stomach ulcers, while above 2.0 mm makes it difficult for animals to digest and reduces meat, milk, and egg conversion.
For the highest capacity, the highest efficiency, and the best desirable particle size, the technical features listed below should be analyzed very well and calculated very well:
- Raw material moisture, density, and particle size before grinding,
- Circumferential speed of hammer mill or tip speed,
- Structure, material, and heat treatment technique of the hammer mill beater,
- The hole diameter and the opening area of the hammer mill sieve,
- Distance between hammer mill beater and sieve,
- Technical specifications of the hammer mill feeder,
As Alapala Feed Tech, we carefully evaluate and calculate the above features as a whole, in accordance with the needs of our customers. We choose the most suitable KCDA and TCDA type hammer mills, we choose the most suitable grinding system to ensure maximum capacity, minimum energy cost, and optimum grinding size.
