We had the opportunity to interview Ahmet Fatih Oral, Project Consultant at Oryem, one of the leading feed technology companies in Turkey and Europe, for our May issue. Mr. Oral stated that they are increasing their R&D and innovation budget every year and explained that as a result of their long-term and intensive work as Oryem team, they put their Gearbox Pellet Press into service. The product, which is used not only in feed but also in pelletizing food products, chemical products and natural wastes with its low maintenance cost and high-efficiency features, will attract great interest from the market, for sure.

We talked to Ahmet Fatih Oral, who states that they always prioritize customer satisfaction with the promise of "Always Produces Quality", about the innovations Oryem brought to the sector, their plans for the future, their ethical understanding as a company and more.

Gearbox Pellet Press is defined as pelletizing various feeds, food products, chemical products and natural wastes. In the working principle, there may be differences according to the properties of the product to be pelletized. However, in general, the processes start with the preparation of water, steam and other liquids according to the product to be pelletized. Mechanical pressure is first applied to the products added to the machine. Then, these products are removed from the holes specially located on the pellet disk. Pressure is an essential factor in this whole process. No matter which product is used during the process, the product compresses and sticks together with the effect of pressure and heat. Then, it is taken out of the holes with pressure. The products removed from the Pellet Press as pellets can thus be put into use.

The gearbox series pellet presses are powered by a specially designed/machined high efficiency gear set. The two-stage precision gear set guarantees the highest pellet quality and capacity, while providing strength and durability to the machine. The machine body is made of cast iron. The gearbox housing offers the flexibility to operate the pellet press with different drive motor options. 6 different lubrication points guarantee the exact amount of supply. Vitamins and minerals added to pellet feed do not decompose. It is consumed more appetizingly by animals. Storage time is longer than powder. Exposure to high temperatures allows it to be cooked and therefore better eaten. It eliminates selectivity in feed and ensures that all products used in mixing are ingested by animals. Feed losses during storage and feeding are minimized due to the pellet form. Pelletizing in the feed industry is increasing due to its positive effects on the performance of animals consuming pelleted feed. The positive effects of pellet feed are largely dependent on the quality of the pellet. In pellet feed production, it should be aimed to maintain the form from production to the animal’s feeder. Our pellet press machine with gearbox provides trouble-free operation and quality for years with its durable cast body and robustness.

One of the most successful projects of our R&D center is the ORYEM Gearbox Pellet Press. When we started this project, Turkey was importing gearbox pellet press machines. We have put our gearbox pellet press machine, of which R&D started in 2018, into mass production in 2021 as a result of our 2-year trial studies.

During the R&D studies of our gearbox pellet press machine, we also received the opinions of our teammates in Germany about the body and main shaft castings of the machine. We could have made the body from iron and made our work easier, but when we saw the differences such as durability, sound insulation, etc. when made of cast iron, we spared no expense. We have always prioritized customer satisfaction with our company policy “Always Produces Quality”.

We bring our customers together with our customers by thinking about every work we do down to the finest detail.

We completed our project with serious R&D work for about 2 years. For the last 1 year, we ran our machine 24/7 and monitored its performance in the field one-on-one. At the point where it proved itself from our point of view, we took the necessary steps to launch it on the market.

With our promise of “Always Produces Quality”, we completed our steps by spending a significant amount of money to bring our customers together with quality again, and as always, we stood behind our work and started to bring our machine together with our customers. At the point we have reached today, we serve our customers with turnkey projects with a capacity of 3 tons per hour up to 120 tons per hour and all types of feed machines separately. In addition, I would like to mention the cat, dog and fish feed, which our R&D center still works on.

ORYEM aims to bring its customers together with cat dog and fish feed with the quality policy it follows in the coming years. We have completed 95% of all our work on this subject in our R&D center. Our cat and dog feed machines are currently working in the field under our supervision. It is against our business ethics to offer our customers without operating our machine 24/7 under the most difficult conditions in the field. We will promote it at the point where it proves itself from our point of view.

One of the innovations ORYEM has added to the sector is the Flake Unit. The Flake Plant, which has been completed in our R&D center, has been actively producing feed for the market for 1.5 years. Our machine has been revised and we have started sales as of this year. There is a very intense demand for the Flake Unit from abroad. We are in dialog with many companies abroad, but we are acting primarily to respond to domestic demands and we will realize all our installations in this way.

At ORYEM team, we continue to collect appreciation and satisfaction with our innovative projects and services. We are working with all our strength to bring our customers and the world many projects that are currently in progress in our R&D center. We continue to be one of the leading companies in our country with determination. We will introduce the work we have done in our R&D center and in the field to the sector before the end of 2024. In addition to these, we will not give up bringing innovation to the sector. I would also like to state that, we traditionally work with ethical rules in our sector. We have never deemed it appropriate to talk about or defame other companies. But we have seen that other companies in our sector do not comply with these ethics and only defame us with lies. We have always been proud when we see Turkish goods abroad, even in the remote corners of Africa.

I would like to talk about the technical information of our Gearbox Pellet Press machine, one of the most successful projects of ORYEM R&D center;

In order to make the gearbox pellet press machine more efficient in line with our findings, we tested it at different ambient temperatures to keep the oil temperature stable according to the environment. We tested our machine by placing a 17,000-kilocalorie chiller cooling system in areas with high ambient temperature with fan cooling. In line with the results we received, our machine has proven itself successfully. Our fan cooler, which we used in areas with ambient temperatures max. 40°, has been sufficient in line with our findings.

We do our best to make our machine run better and last longer. In addition to this, we have heat sensors in our roll balls. Heat sensors transfer the temperature information in the roll and bearing to the automation. When the specified temperature is exceeded, thanks to the warnings on the screen, intervention is made without damaging the roll and bearing.

With the die slow rotation mechanism in our machine, we make the downtime in a shorter time in line with the requests of our customers.  The quality of the gear set we use in the die slow rotation mechanism was determined after consultation with our teammates in Germany and field tests.

Hydraulic Roll Calibration System and Roll Compaction Control System are optionally available in ORYEM gearbox pellet press machine.

Roll compression control system is an innovative technology that enables effective calibration without roll compression. In addition, this control system increases the life and efficiency of the machine.

This system combines the precision of the hydraulics with the robustness of the mechanical system. Therefore, the roller is easily calibrated while the machine is running, which increases productivity. This system we use is calibrated and controlled by plc system without the need for manual intervention. All values are transferred to automation thanks to the linear ruler.

We are increasing our R&D budget every year. We got our work registered with more than 20 documents and applications we have received. On our R&D and innovation journey, we continue to increase our knowledge and experience day by day. When knowledge, experience and labor come together, success comes by itself.

Innovation is about making something that is needed for customers possible, rather than producing something new. An endless success that lasts a long time in return for great efforts.

As I conclude my remarks, I would like to emphasize that we have full confidence in ourselves and our sector in the fact that the industrialists and export power of our country have the necessary experience and know-how to successfully overcome global threats and economic shocks many times in these challenging situations.
