UK-based animal nutrition specialist Volac has named industry veteran Andrew Thompson managing director of its Feed & Forage Additives division.
Andrew Thompson
Thompson assumes leadership immediately, transitioning from his role leading Genus's bovine business across Europe, Middle East and Africa. His career spans farm consultancy at Promar International and strategic development in Asia's dairy markets, equipping him with unique insights into productivity challenges facing modern ruminant operations.
"I'm delighted to join Volac at such an exciting time," Thompson said. "We'll build on the company's innovation legacy to help customers improve both productivity and sustainability." His appointment signals Volac's intensified focus on science-backed additives that address both farm profitability and environmental pressures.
The move comes as demand grows for forage preservation and methane-reducing feed solutions. Thompson's expertise in farm economics positions him to advance Volac's commercial strategy while supporting producers facing rising input costs and emissions regulations.
Prior leadership roles saw Thompson implement genetic improvement programs and supply chain innovations across 14 countries. He holds agriculture and business degrees from Newcastle and Bath universities.
