Ukraine’s grain harvest forecast at 55-65 MMT

13 January 20251 min reading

As 2025 unfolds, Ukraine’s grain trade faces both opportunities and challenges, with critical implications for global feed ingredient markets. The growth of oilseed production and a shift in trade flows will be closely monitored by the feed industry this year.

Ukraine's grain sector is poised for a dynamic 2025. Key trends indicate significant opportunities in grain and oilseed processing, which could benefit the feed industry. Rapeseed and sunflower are expected to remain profitable, while corn margins are anticipated to grow due to recovering demand. Oilseeds, particularly sunflower, are expected to surpass 2024 production figures. The expected grain harvest in 2025 is projected to be between 55 and 65 million metric tons, with exports forecast at 40-50 million metric tons.

As Sergey Feofilov, founder of UkrAgroConsult, shared, “With a spotlight on energy independence, growth of biofuel production alongside renewable energy solutions may further drive down operational costs.”

Trade flows are also shifting, with growing demand from regions like North Africa, Asia, and the Middle East. These regions are expected to influence feed ingredient pricing and availability, especially as Ukraine looks to meet these emerging needs.
