Turkey’s grain, pulses, oilseeds, and processed products sector generated $6.9 billion in exports during the first seven months of the year, backed by a 6.5% rise in unit export values to $1.1/kg. Sunflower oil remained the top export driver with $769.3 million, up 21.2% year-on-year.

According to data released by the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TİM), Turkey’s exports of grains, pulses, oilseeds, and processed products reached $6.9 billion in the January–July period. Average export unit prices for the sector—covering sunflower oil, pasta, wheat flour, confectionery, and chocolate products—rose 6.5% to $1.1 per kilogram.

Sunflower oil led the sector’s shipment list at $769.3 million (+21.2% year-on-year), followed by chocolate and cocoa-based products at $588.7 million. Iraq maintained its position as the largest market with $855.9 million in sales, followed by the United States at $538.5 million.

Commenting on global trade conditions, Nihat Uysallı, Chairman of the TİM Cereal, Pulses, Oilseeds, and Products Sector Board, noted that El Niño-driven climate risks in key producing nations, such as the US, France, Germany, and Australia, alongside Black Sea war-risk freight premiums continue to complicate global trade and logistics. Uysallı emphasized that Turkey’s domestic wheat production, reaching a historic record above 23 million tons this season alongside Toprak Mahsulleri Ofisi's (TMO) 11-million-ton procurement guarantee, provides a vital strategic buffer against global supply chain volatility.
