Turkey, Iran sign cooperation protocol in feed industry

Turkey and Iran's feed industry representatives came together at a meeting hosted by the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB), signing a protocol that formalizes sectoral cooperation.


On January 10, 2025, the TOBB hosted the Turkey-Iran Agricultural Cooperation Meeting. The event, attended by key figures such as Turkey's Minister of Agriculture and Forestry, Ibrahim Yumaklı, Iran's Minister of Agriculture, Gholamreza Nouri Ghezeljeh, Deputy Minister of Trade Özgür Volkan Ağar, and TOBB Board Member Faik Yavuz, focused on exploring cooperation opportunities between the two countries. The most notable outcome of the meeting was the signing of a protocol between the Turkish Feed Industry Association (Türkiyem-Bir) and the Iranian Feed Industry Association, outlining joint efforts on projects related to the feed sector.


WE WILL NOT END OUR TRADE WITH IRAN

In his speech at the meeting, Minister Yumaklı emphasized that, despite the sanctions imposed on Iran, Turkey would not terminate its economic and trade relations with the country. He stated, "Iran is Turkey's gateway to Asia, and Turkey is Iran's gateway to Europe. Despite the sanctions, we will not end our economic and trade relations with our neighbor. We are committed to this." He also highlighted the potential for diversified cooperation areas, adding that bilateral trade holds significant potential to grow in the future. Minister Yumaklı called for the effective use of technical agreements and business forums to further develop agricultural trade, stating, "From today onward, we must use our technical agreements and business forums effectively to advance agricultural trade."
