Turkey’s Grain Board (TMO) has opened 5.5 million tonnes of wheat reserves to the market while maintaining harvest-period pricing. The substantial release aims to secure raw material supply for flour and feed processors while buffering regional market volatility.
The Turkish Grain Board (TMO) has launched the sale of 5.5 million tonnes of milling and durum wheat starting October 5(today), following a comprehensive evaluation of domestic supply-demand balances and processing sector demands.
Under the revised trading terms, stocks stored in licensed warehouses will remain accessible via the Turkish Specialized Products Exchange (TÜRİB), while inventory in TMO’s own depots is now open for direct purchase by end-users.
Demonstrating a clear commitment to cost predictability, the state board confirmed that official selling prices established during the harvest season remain unchanged. The decision follows a strong procurement campaign that, combined with carryover stocks from previous cycles, built robust national reserves.
TMO officials emphasized that they will continue to closely monitor domestic and international grain markets, adjusting operations to maintain market balance and support industrial processors. Detailed purchasing guidelines have been made available through official agency channels. Emphasizing its continuous market oversight, the agency stated that "developments in domestic and international markets, the supply-demand balance, and sector needs will continue to be closely monitored."
Bolstered by strong carryover reserves and active seasonal procurement, TMO’s intervention serves as a critical buffer for downstream food and feed processors navigating global commodity fluctuations.
