In recent years, sustainability has become a buzzword. However this situation does not arise because it is an element of popular culture, rather for it is crucial for the future of humanity. The rapid growth of the world's population and changing consumption habits are transforming the concept of sustainability for the food sector into a keyword that will not disappear from the agenda easily.
When it comes to meat and dairy products, the importance of the sustainability of the feed sector shows its significance. The sustainability for the feed sector means that while it provides environmental equality and optimizes the use of natural resources, it positively affects all people’s social and economic welfare. It also means the supply of feed uninterrupted, safe and nutritious to poultry, livestock, fisheries, and pet.
“We face with a world with sharp changes. Everything is connected and everything goes through change. Everybody is in this,” said a sustainability expert from Arkansas University on his approach to the sustainability, adding that the American Feed Industry Association (AFIA) is the one of organizations ‘guiding’ on sustainability. Paul McKeithan, Digital Services Director of Bühler Aeroglade, a leading company on feed technologies said that sustainability has subtitles such as productivity, lowering streams to the minimum and new profitability, adding that the responsibility of sustainability is on everybody’s shoulder, not just his company.
Articles penned by AFIA and Bühler for the Feed Planet’s respectable readers tell a lot about sustainability for the feed sector.
