Emre Uyar, YEMTAR: "The establishments with dynamic structures such as feed factories require really fast intervention. As Yemtar A.Ş., one of the services we are most successful in is after sale service and maintenance services. A statement from one of our customers shows that we are on the right track; "In case our factory stops at night, Yemtar comes and starts operation in the morning."

YEMTAR

Yemtar is among the key players operating in feed machinery industry. Starting its journey in the 1970s, Yemtar became one of the leader companies exporting to 47 countries. We met Yemtar Sales and Marketing Manager Emre Uyar and talked about the story of Yemtar, the technological solutions provided, exports, technical services, innovations and future targets.

Stating that they founded "Yemtar R&D Center" so as to step change the technology level and to ensure its sustainability, Emre Uyar said that they follow the innovations of the time, and that therefore, they export 66 percent of the machinery they manufacture to Africa, Russia, Azerbaijan, Turkic Republics, Asia-Pacific countries and Balkan states as of 2016.

Let’s hear the details from Emre Uyar...

Could you share the success story of Yemtar, the leading technology producer of Turkey? Operating in fed machinery industry since the 1970s, started a new journey under the name of Yemtar in 1980 by Ismail Colak. We made our first manufactures with 6 personnel in a 100 m2 workshop. With the growth of poultry sector in Turkey since the in the 1980s, we started to grow as well. Our first export was to Nigeria in 1986. With the institutionalization works started in our company due to the crisis of 2001, our company changed its shell once again. We lost Ismail Colak, the founder of our company in 2005. After that, Mr. Ismail’s son, Abdullah Colak took over the presidency of the board of directors. In our 37th anniversary, Yemtar became a huge company employing 175 personnel in a facility of 30 thousand m2 with an indoors area of 12 thousand m2 and exporting to 47 countries. We continue this ever-growing success by not compromising the principles of our company, following the innovations of the time and increasing our works for this purpose.

What are the technological solutions provided to Yemtar customers? The main manufacture of Yemtar A.S. is turn-key feed factories. Additionally, we manufacture turn-key rendering facilities, full-fat soy extrusion units, grain storage elevators, organic fertilizer facilities. We are not talking about standard manufacturing. The needs of each customer vary according to their region and culture. I am confident to say that one of our best works as Yemtar is to determine the needs of our customers in the most accurate way. Therefore, we provide them the most affordable and technologically most effective solutions. Thanks to the feedback from our customers, we develop our machinery in terms of technology each year and add new machinery to our product portfolio. With Yemtar R&D Center project which completed its accreditations in 2017, we started producing direct service not only for our own customers but also for the whole region.

How much of the machinery you manufacture is exported? In which countries can we see Yemtar machinery? We maintained a rising momentum in our export amount in the last 5 years. As of 2015, 60 percent of the machinery we manufacture was exported, but in 2016, this rate reached 66 percent. We aim to increase this amount to 75 percent in the next 2 years. Currently, we export to 49 countries. We bring our services and products to a wide geography on the map. The regions we export to are mainly the Middle East, Africa, Russia, Azerbaijan, Turkic Republics, Asia-Pacific countries and Balkan states.

Could you talk about the after sales technical services such as maintenance provided to your customers? How do you provide immediate service to especially you customers abroad? The establishments with dynamic structures such as feed factories require really fast intervention. You need to re-operate the factory as soon as possible. As Yemtar A.Ş., one of the services we are most successful in is after sale service and maintenance services. Thanks to the feedbacks from our customers, we can see the importance of our sensitivity for our customers. A statement from one of our customers shows that we are on the right track. "In case our factory stops at night, Yemtar comes and starts operation in the morning."

In the recent years, especially due to the increase in the facilities we have established abroad, the production of service and maintenance services has become really hard. We need to provide technical personnel and service to many places at the same time. And providing this service with the personnel in our own workshop affects our current manufacture.

Therefore, we established Yemser company so as to provide the service and maintenance services to our customers in the most accurate and fastest way. Our main purpose here was to minimize the down times of our customers by the check-up, preventive maintenance, and periodic maintenance methods, and to produce solutions to the problems of our customers in the fastest way possible. There is a big gap in this issue in our country. We had more demands than we expected in the last 3 years. Currently, we provide services to not only feed factories but different industries such as food, chemistry as well.

Do you train the personnel to be employed in the production after the installation of a machine? Could you please provide some information on this? After completing the installation and commissioning of each facility, our personnel provides training in the pre-determined periods. Following the operation of the factory, we provide on-the-job training to the personnel determined by our customers by working with them.

Could you give some information on the R&D works of Yemtar and the budget allocated to R&D? We institutionalized our current design and project development office by enlarging it and gathering such works under "Yemtar R&D Center" so as to carry our technology level to higher than ever and to ensure its sustainability. Therefore, we endeavor to bring our corporate culture, brand value and knowledge to the future.

Are there any innovations you have launched recently or plan to launch in the near future? If yes, what are the advantages of such innovation? We plan to launch the different models of threaded pellet press manufactured for the first time in 2015. 660 threaded pellet press will be launched by July. Therefore, it will be possible to increase the capacities of current factories by 15-20 percent without the need for any additional area.

What are your opinions on why your customers choose you, or why should a new investor choose Yemtar? What are your promises to your customers? As Yemtar A.Ş., we think our relationships with our customers are similar to marriages. We know that our customers need us as long as their feed factories operate. We provide technical support to all our customers when and where they need. And this moves us ahead of our competitors.

Could you talk about the targets and plans of Yemtar regarding the future? How do you see the future of world’s feed market and your future role in this market? The demand for feed factories increase in direct proportion to the increasing population and food need in the world. Thanks to our ever-developing technologies and the services we provide, we will continue to be one of the locomotive companies in this sector as in today.
