Kartal Kimya and its business partner BASF Turkey launched BalanGut® Aqua, a product for intestinal health in fish, at Izmir Wyndham Grand Özdilek Hotel on 20-21 June 2022. The motto of the program attended by the leading representatives of the aquaculture industry was "Intestinal health is in balance".

The two-day program started with BASF promotional presentation by Janina Jordaan, BASF Eastern Europe, and Middle East Sales Coordinator. Giving general information about the German additive company, BASF, Janina Jordaan noted that the company gives priority to sustainable and innovative solutions. Afterward, Kartal Kimya General Manager Dr. Murat Kalyoncu made a presentation about the company. Talking about Kartal Kimya's nearly 40-year history and mindset of quality and service, Dr. Murat Kalyoncu said, "Our production facility is the most developed and state-of-the-art one in Turkey and Europe." Murat Kalyoncu noted that with the responsibility they bear towards future generations, they work every day to make a positive contribution to life.

Prof. Dr. Tufan Eroldogan from the Faculty of Fisheries of Çukurova University made a presentation on Intestinal Microbiota and Immunity in Fish within the scope of the launch by Kartal Kimya and BASF. Professor Eroldogan said that the production of fishery products in Turkey continues within the framework of the targets determined by the ministry in compliance with the capacity. Drawing attention to the importance of breeding endemic species, Prof. Eroldogan pointed out that the decreasing trend in the use of costly raw materials such as fish meal will continue.

The technical presentation about the product was given by BASF Animal Nutrition EMEA and Asia-Pacific Sales Manager Dr. Ehab Aboelsaadat. The product, which is effective in every step and part of the digestive tract, has both bacteriostatic and bactericidal effects thanks to the mono-, di- and tri-glycerides in its composition. Therefore, it stands out as the most suitable feed additive to be used in antibiotic-free production models in the prevention of antimicrobial resistance. The positive effect of BalanGut® Aqua, which is stated to aim at optimum development by protecting fish health and welfare, on yield parameters, product quality and farmer costs has been proven by scientific and field trials.

On the second day of the launch program, the founder of Probio Sağlık Ürünleri A.Ş. and the Vice Chairman of Association of Feed Additive Manufacturers, Importers and Distributors (TUYEKAD) Dr. Murat Emre Yardibi and Feed Technologies Specialist Müge Önder Apaydın made a presentation entitled "Microbiota Dynamics and Formulation Strategies in Plant-Based Carnivorous European Sea Bass (Dicentrarchus labrax)".
