The International Cooperation for the Convergence of Technical Requirements for the Assessment of Feed Ingredients (ICCF) has released a draft guidance document outlining general recommendations for assessing feed ingredient effectiveness. The document is now open for public consultation, inviting feedback from industry stakeholders worldwide.

The ICCF Steering Committee has approved the draft guidance document titled “Feed Ingredient Effectiveness Assessment – General Recommendation” for public consultation, marking a new step toward harmonizing technical requirements in feed ingredient evaluation. The consultation period officially opened on January 5, 2026, and will remain open until February 6, 2026.

Developed by an Expert Working Group composed of specialists from ICCF founding members, the draft provides overarching recommendations for applicants on protocol development, data collection and reporting to support effectiveness assessments.

The guidance is the first in a planned series and applies to feed ingredients that deliver technical effects in feed, provide nutritional benefits to animals, influence animal appearance, quality or production parameters, or affect the composition and characteristics of animal-derived products. Stakeholders are invited to submit comments using the official feedback form made available alongside the draft document.

ICCF noted that feedback gathered during the consultation phase will inform future refinements and additional guidance documents, supporting greater regulatory convergence and predictability for the global feed industry.
