Presented on 28 April, the “Optimise your grain investment” webinar will show how grain producers, feed mills, and quality assurance professionals can cost-effectively preserve grain’s physical and nutritional value even amid challenging market conditions.
Raw material price spikes are creating a need to utilize grains to their full potential. However, nutritional losses due to microbes consuming valuable nutrients can be prevented through effective preservation. Physical loss of nutrients during storage and transport needs to be minimized and shelf-life extension is necessary to safeguard investments for longer periods.

“As feed is the largest cost in livestock production, protecting nutrients is not only essential for animal performance but also influences the economics and efficiency of production,” says Pieter Steyn, global programme manager feed safety at Selko, Trouw Nutrition’s feed additive brand. He adds that while global sourcing and supply models pose greater challenges in some regions, research shows it is possible to preserve nutritional value even when cargo quality is poor or the choice of suppliers is limited. “Proactive approaches have been shown to help both feed mill managers and home mixers preserve the quality and nutritional value of their grains,” Steyn says.
