Engineer Ümran Küçüközdemir named the species of feed she obtained after 20 years of work: Ümran Hanım Triticale. The most important feature that distinguishes the registered species from other triticales is that it can be used as both in animal and human nutrition.

As an Engineer at the Eastern Anatolia Agricultural Research Institute, Dr. Ümran Küçüközdemir completed her studies on triticale feed obtained as a result of hybridization of wheat and rye, which they started in 1997. The first harvest of the fodder, which is used as both fodder grain and silage, has been made. After 20 years of work by Küçüközdemir and her team, the planting of the improved product is also recommended for areas with drought, limited precipitation, aridness, barren, salty, acidic and disease problems. Ümran Hanım Triticale feed has an incomparably higher grain and stem yield than barley and wheat in high cut lands and fields opened from pasture. In addition, triticale feed is resistant to all diseases seen in cereals under field conditions. Ümran Hanım Triticale feed, which can be used as a concentrate feed and is an alternative to barley, gives more yield than wheat in regions with low sloping land depth, barren and harsh winters. Küçüközdemir said that Ümran Hanım Triticale feed, which is used as an alternative forage plant, will make the farmers happy. Director of Eastern Anatolia Agricultural Research Institute Dr. Şerafettin Çakal said, "The most important feature that distinguishes this triticale variety from others is that it can be used both in animal and human nutrition."
