Since a healthy stomach and intestine are crucial to improving animal welfare in animal production, advanced nutritional strategies are needed to increase animal welfare and profitability. A healthier gastrointestinal tract; enhances performance, prevents leaky gut, and reduces stress.

There are many factors that can affect the welfare of animals. Although the priority is mostly in management and animal husbandry principles, nutrition also plays an integral role in this regard. Since a healthy stomach and intestine are crucial to improving animal welfare in animal production, advanced nutritional strategies are needed to increase animal welfare and profitability.

Ruminants collect the most complex nutrients humans cannot digest and successfully add them to the food chain. This characteristic of ruminants comes from their symbiosis with the rumen and lower gut microbiomes. Understanding how the gastrointestinal tract works, how it contributes to the health of ruminant animals in general, and what to do when it is compromised is critical to herd success.

A healthier gastrointestinal tract helps improve performance, prevent leaky gut and reduce stress, all of which together result in profitability with healthier animals.
