The recommendation aims to help manufacturers navigate the EU’s deforestation-free regulation and compliance processes. Although compound feed is exempt from direct obligations, related feed materials face strict controls.
On 23 September 2024, FEFAC released a Professional Recommendation detailing actions compound feed manufacturers must take to comply with the EU Deforestation-free Regulation (EUDR). The guidance is tailored for businesses handling products like soybean meal and palm oil co-products, which fall under the scope of EUDR Annex I. While compound feed (HS 2309) itself is not subject to EUDR obligations, products within it may be, requiring careful consideration.

FEFAC’s recommendation is informed by extensive engagement with the European Commission and national authorities, supported by legal advice. It will be regularly updated to reflect ongoing consultations and changes in official guidance. The document serves as a “living guide,” ensuring manufacturers stay informed of evolving requirements.
The recommendation also aligns with the FEDIOL/COCERAL Common Practices and Recommendations, released on 20 September 2024, emphasizing cross-industry collaboration on regulatory compliance.
