Erdogan announced that he is in agreement with Putin that the Black Sea Grain deal should be extended. The Black Sea Grain Initiative, established in July 2022 by the United Nations and Turkey, is normally expiring on July 17.

Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan expressed his agreement with Russian President Vladimir Putin on the extension of a crucial grain deal, allowing Ukraine to export its grain from the Black Sea region.

During a press briefing, Erdogan stated that he hopes the deal, which is currently set to expire on July 17, can be prolonged due to the joint efforts of the United Nations and Turkey. He emphasized the importance of these ongoing initiatives.

The European Commission, in collaboration with the United Nations and Turkey, is actively assisting in the extension of the grain deal. A spokesperson from the European Union confirmed that they are willing to explore all possible solutions to ensure a favorable outcome.

The Black Sea Grain Initiative, established in July 2022 by the United Nations and Turkey, aims to address the global food crisis exacerbated by Russia's invasion of Ukraine and subsequent blockade of Ukrainian ports. Ukraine and Russia play significant roles as major grain exporters worldwide.
