The European Food Safety Authority will gather international scientific experts, policy makers, and food chain stakeholders in Parma for its Safe Food, One Future Conference in September 2027. Marking a quarter-century of European risk assessment, the landmark event will officially launch the agency's Strategy 2034 to guide safety protocols through the next decade.

The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) will host its Safe Food, One Future Conference from September 29 to October 1, 2027, in Parma, Italy, and online. Marking EFSA’s 25th anniversary, the three-day event serves as a strategic platform to review past achievements and launch the EFSA Strategy 2034, which will shape risk assessment implementation from 2028 through 2034.
Discussions will focus on aligning regulatory science with technological advancement, integrating One Health principles, and enhancing rapid response mechanisms against emerging risks. Key agenda items include sustainable innovation, the integration of social sciences into risk communication, and the trustworthy application of artificial intelligence and data management across the food and feed supply chain.
Nikolaus Kriz, EFSA’s Executive Director
"Twenty-five years of science and cooperation have made our food safer and yet the future of food safety will depend on how well we anticipate change, embrace innovation and work together," stated Nikolaus Kriz, EFSA’s Executive Director, emphasizing that the conference aims to bring science and policy together to shape future standards.
Established in 2002, EFSA provides independent scientific advice across the farm-to-fork chain, supporting European risk managers in addressing climate change, zoonotic diseases, and emerging safety challenges.
