The International Cooperation for Convergence of Technical Requirements for the Assessment of Feed Ingredients (ICCF) has endorsed a new guidance document aimed at streamlining the identification and characterization of feed ingredients. This initiative, backed by global experts, seeks to set clear standards and enhance the quality control processes within the feed industry.

The International Cooperation for Convergence of Technical Requirements for the Assessment of Feed Ingredients (ICCF) Steering Committee has recently announced its endorsement of a pivotal guidance document titled ‘Identification and Characterization of Feed Ingredients’. This endorsement came during their meeting held on September 5, 2023.

This initiative stems from a collaborative effort that began in 2021. An Expert Working Group, composed of both regulatory authority figures and industry professionals from ICCF’s founding members, was formed. Their aim was to offer comprehensive recommendations on the vital information required for establishing the identity and detailed characterization of feed ingredients. The newly released guidance document serves as a foundational resource, assisting applicants in collating pertinent information effectively. Furthermore, to streamline the process, the document is complemented by a checklist designed to aid applicants in gathering the necessary data for submission.

It’s noteworthy that the contents of this guidance document aren’t solely based on recent insights. Instead, it integrates knowledge from pre-existing international guidelines, profound expertise from a select panel of ICCF founding member specialists, and feedback garnered during a consultation phase in January 2022.
