The IAOM MEA Regional Flour and Feed Milling Forum 2026 will bring millers, technology providers and industry decision-makers from across the Middle East and Africa to Amman on 21–24 September. Hosted in partnership with Al Hazaa Investment Group, the four-day programme will address operational efficiency, grain storage, flour quality, feed processing, automation and digitalisation through separate forums dedicated to the flour and feed sectors.

Flour and feed milling professionals from across the Middle East and Africa will gather in Amman, Jordan, on 21–24 September for the IAOM MEA Regional Flour and Feed Milling Forum 2026.

Hosted in partnership with Al Hazaa Investment Group at the Amman Marriott Hotel, the four-day forum will provide a focused platform for industry professionals to exchange technical knowledge, examine developments in milling operations and strengthen business relationships across the region.

For the first time, IAOM MEA will bring the flour and feed milling sectors together within a single integrated technical event. The IAOM MEA Regional Flour Milling Forum will take place on 21–22 September, followed by the IAOM MEA Regional Feed Milling Forum on 23–24 September.

Although organised under a common framework, the two forums will retain separate agendas, speakers and technical programmes tailored to the operational requirements of their respective industries. Participants will be able to attend either forum according to their professional focus or join the full four-day programme for broader exposure across the grain-processing value chain.

FROM WHEAT STORAGE TO SMART MILLING

The flour milling programme will cover key stages of the production process, from receiving and storing wheat to cleaning, conditioning, grinding, flour correction and quality management. Sessions will examine the creation of optimal wheat-storage conditions in the Middle East and Africa, alternatives to chemical fumigation and the use of grain cooling to limit insect activity, mould growth, mycotoxin risk and dry-matter losses.

The programme will also address criteria-based design and integration of raw-material and process silos, including the selection of flat-bottom and hopper-bottom configurations, space utilisation, first-in first-out flow, hygiene and environmental controls.

Operational sessions will focus on modern wheat cleaning, contaminant removal, water addition, tempering time and moisture stability. Milling specialists will also discuss break-release optimisation, flowsheet balance across roller mills, sifters and purifiers, and the use of performance curves and sample tables to monitor extraction and milling efficiency.

Further presentations will explore the design of flour flow lines and pneumatic conveying systems, including pipe-diameter calculations, gravity and pneumatic transport applications, positive and negative conveying systems and appropriate material selection.

Flour functionality will form another important part of the agenda. Discussions will examine how targeted testing, wheat blending and enzyme-based flour correction can help millers balance extraction rates, ash content, rheological performance, gluten characteristics and dough strength while maintaining consistent flour quality.

DATA, RELIABILITY AND OPERATIONAL EXCELLENCE

Digital transformation will feature prominently in the flour milling forum. Speakers will consider how mills can progress from collecting raw production data to making better operational decisions, when artificial intelligence can provide genuine value and when conventional process expertise remains the more appropriate solution.

Rather than presenting AI as a starting point, the programme will examine the data foundations, operational discipline and human expertise required to develop a practical digitalisation roadmap for milling plants.

The forum will also address manufacturing excellence through reliability and maintenance optimisation, improved process stability and extraction, statistical process control, energy efficiency, food safety, predictive analytics and the use of operational performance indicators.

FEED FORMULATION, PROCESSING AND QUALITY CONTROL

The feed milling forum will examine the relationship between animal nutrition, ingredient characteristics and processing performance. Sessions will cover the digestive systems of different animals and the nutritional roles of grains, wheat bran and soybean meal in feed formulations.

Technical discussions will explore formulation strategies, modern processing practices and the relationship between nutrition, processing conditions, feed quality and production efficiency.

Grinding, conditioning and pelleting will be among the principal operational themes. The programme will examine hammer-mill optimisation, particle-size consistency and methods of improving the processing value of soybean meal. It will also consider how artificial intelligence can support conditioning and pelleting, improve pellet consistency and strengthen feed quality and performance.

Quality control in pellet production will be addressed through rapid analysis, automation and standardisation. Presentations will explore how real-time measurements can support production decisions, improve pellet durability, reduce fines and control energy consumption.

TRACEABILITY AND CONNECTED FEED PRODUCTION

The feed programme will also look beyond conventional automation to examine traceability, predictive analytics and the integration of production systems with enterprise resource planning platforms.

Topics will include traceability by design, digitalisation beyond PLC and SCADA systems, optimisation of dosing, mixing and batch performance, MES–ERP connectivity and the use of production and inventory data for planning and decision-making.

Project execution will provide another practical focus, particularly for new feed-mill investments in Africa. Sessions will examine the coordination of engineering and site activities, management of interfaces and supply chains, control of project scope and risk, logistics challenges and effective commissioning and handover.

Together, the sessions are intended to give mill owners, production managers, quality-control specialists, nutritionists, formulators and technical professionals practical knowledge that can be applied directly to their operations.

REGIONAL INDUSTRY NETWORK TO MEET IN AMMAN

Alongside the technical programme, the forum will provide dedicated B2B networking opportunities for millers, grain processors, equipment manufacturers, ingredient suppliers, technology providers, traders and other industry stakeholders.
