The Sagun Group, a significant player in Turkey’s export of aquatic products and Denmark-based BioMar, a global and significant producer of fish feed established a fish feed plant through an investment worth 20 million Euro in Söke district of the province of Aydın.
The joint venture company BioMar-Sagun’s fish feed plant in the Söke district of Aydın has been opened on August 25, 2016 with an official ceremony attended by the development Minister Lütfi Elvan, Turkey Exporters Assembly President Mehmet Büyükekşi, Aydın Governor Ömer Faruk Koçak, many other government officials and more than 300 guests.
The plant worth 20 million Euro has a production capacity of 50 thousand tons. The plant will supply the locally-produced growing feed for the trout, sea bream and sea bass. The hatcheries and fry feed requiring expertise within the product range of BioMar-Sagun will be procured from BioMar-owned other factories in other parts of the world. BioMar primarily provides services to Turkey and short period of time it will begin to export to neighboring countries.
Director General of BioMar Sagun has expressed that: “The company will supply the Turkish fish producers with the high performance fish feed optimized to enhance the growth potential of the fish species and it will also offer BioMar Group’s world-renowned technical support to ensure a more economical production. Thus, the Turkish fish producers will receive professional technical support for the appropriate nutrient content and feeding strategies that will enable them to undertake efficient, sustainable and profitable breeding activities.”
