According to the Ministry of Health’s 2025 National Residue Research Plan (PNR) report, official monitoring across Italy's livestock and feed sector achieved a 99.98% compliance rate. Advanced multi-residue testing confirmed near-zero non-conformities, highlighting high standards in animal nutrition and feed safety.

The Italian Ministry of Health published the findings of its 2025 National Residue Research Plan (PNR), demonstrating comprehensive safety standards across the livestock and primary processing sectors. Out of 24,015 targeted samples subjected to 325,262 analytical tests, non-conformities were limited to just 6 samples (0.02% of the total).

The testing framework searched for 432 distinct chemical substances averaging 14 active substances per sample utilizing advanced multi-residue and multi-class analytical methods. Key monitored supply chains included bovine (9,773 samples), poultry (6,083 samples), and swine (4,234 samples).

Additionally, import controls performed on 607 third-country product samples revealed zero non-compliances. An audit conducted by the European Commission confirmed that the Italian residue monitoring system is well-structured and aligned with EU directives.

For the feed and livestock industries, these metrics reinforce the critical role of feed quality and traceability in delivering safe animal-origin foods to global markets. Official monitoring systems confirm that rigorous feed safety and veterinary controls maintain exceptional compliance across Italian livestock production.
