Flour Milling Plants Offer New
Investment Opportunities for Animal Feed

Flour mills present a new business opportunity for us and a new investment opportunity for our customer: The transition from the milling sector to the feed mill sector. The wheat bran produced in flour mills is about 20-22%. In other words, when you build a 150 tons/day flour mill, approximately 32 tons of wheat bran produced per day. Bran is used in a large quantity, especially in cattle feed formulations. The use of wheat bran in cattle feed rations can sometimes be around 50%. Wheat bran is a high protein source as well as providing digestive benefits. It provides carbohydrate, mineral and vitamin support by mixing with other raw materials suitable for the ration, especially in ruminant animals, and reduces feed costs. Its use in the poultry feed sector is relatively low. Wheat bran generally comes out of the flour mill in mash form and is sold to the market, especially to feed mills or livestock farms. However, if the bran is used as animal feed in the flour producer, it gains added value. In recent years, the demand for pelleted bran has also increased. There are many companies that set up wheat or maize bran pelleting units, especially flour factories. Due to the high density of pelleted bran, it is a great advantage to reduce transportation costs and storage costs. Pelleted bran can also be stored for a longer period of time without molding, when a mold inhibitor is added during pelleting, it can be stored for months without spoiling, and can be delivered to the destination without spoiling for months during intercontinental shipments by ship. Another advantage is that it provides a high capacity, especially in hammer mills, due to its high density, and reduces hammer mill energy costs.

As Alapala Feed Tech, we are installing bran pelletizing plants all over the world, from 2 tons/hour to 15 tons/hour capacity with our KPPM pellet mill models. We design turnkey bran pelletizing plants suitable for the system, and we carry out the process from taking the bran from the bran silos to the packaging on a turnkey basis with MCC and automation system.
